Lackadaisy Sabbatical by tracyjb Lackadaisy Sabbatical by tracyjb
Comic update from last month.  Police procedure from nearly a hundred years ago is not an easy thing to research, as it turns out.

The easiest place to read the whole story is in the Archive.

They do. They had a bench warrant for him because he failed to show up for court for court following a previous infringement.  This was explained on a page from a while back, though.

So many awesome things to pull out of this page, yet somehow I keep coming back to "Well, you remember what I told you too. ...About why you shouldn't drink radiator fluid." Such an inconsequential thing, and there's much wittier things in there, if I want to pull out the funny bits. I guess it's because it's not something you'd think you'd have to explain, I guess. Heh.

I suppose I included it specifically because it seems like such an absurd thing to say, but within the context, it makes some amount of sense.  Wood alcohol was a common ingredient in anti-freeze solutions, and ethylene glycol (anti-freeze as we know it today) was also new on the market.  Both substances could get you drunk, as a very desperate alcoholic might have been aware, but both are also quite toxic.

And Virgil would be the type to try, wouldn't he? Ah, let's hope he follows the absurd yet true advice, then.

This is so gorgeous!

But I have to question the scene in the last panel: is Dom Drago working for Asa of Marigold? That envelope inside his planner makes me seem that having someone on his payroll in the Treasury Department would explain why Asa hasn't been in trouble with the law.

It's only meant to imply that he has some connection to him.  The nature of that connection will be revealed as the story moves forward. =)
