Latest comic update and end to this most recent scene/chapter. Volume 2 is nearing completion on the whole as well.
In Haitian Voodoo (and New Orleans Voodoo by extension), it's believed that a spirit may be invoked as a garde (or gad) for an individual through ritual sometimes involving branding or scarification. The spirit is 'fed' by rubbing its favored liquors and herbs into the wound. Of course, it's generally a much more voluntary rite than Serafine seems to have made it out to be.

Is Mordecai the type to hold a grudge?
Cuz if he ever gets a blade to touch either of them, it might be the last time either of them is able to feel anything ever again.
