More from Hero's Journey.
The flying monkey deathbot (called the atok in-game) started out as a joke among the designers...but it was just too amusing to pass up, so we went with it. The topmost creature is a steel golem fashioned by the gearsmiths of the HJ world. More can be read about them at the official web site.
Modeling and animation was done with 3DS Max, textures created in Photoshop.
The golem reminds me a bit of Warhammer 40.000 Chaos Dreadnoughts or Epic scale Warhound Titans. It looks great and i really like the decorated armour plates. The monkey is a funny concept and looks awesome too.
Good transition from concept to 3d, but I think for the top creature that something more can be done with the mouth, it looks too hollow for some reason for it just being a two hinged mouth. Otherwise it looks pretty good. The monkey on the bottom has a nice textured look!
Yeah, those are my concept drawings too. Sometimes I do stray a bit from the original idea, but these examples just happen to be some that came out close to the drawings.
I just looked at your different creature art images for Hero's Journey and I must say I am very impressed. Is there a website for this game yet? I'd love to learn more about it.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.

We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
